The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute Expo 2023 was held May 8-10 in New Orleans, continuing the build momentum as the industry’s key event for design professionals.
More than 190 engineers, architects and technical staff from companies in the cold-formed steel (CFS) industry attended CFSEI Expo, an increase of 10 percent over the 2022 program. The international flavor of the program also grew as attendees representing more than 10 countries participated in the event.
Research, Case Studies, ‘Creole Queen’ Ride
CFSEI Expo 2023 featured 14 educational programs covering a range of topics including recent research results, case studies, application of design methods and expert panelists addressing common and uncommon engineering challenges.
In the main ballroom, 17 companies displayed new framing products, technology and other tools needed for efficient design of buildings with CFS. The Expo also featured the announcement of the CFSEI Design Excellence and Creative Detail Award winners and the John P. Matsen Distinguished Service Award winner.
CFSEI Expo 2023 opened with a site tour of the Dominion USA CFS panel plant near New Orleans. Expo attendees also enjoyed a boat tour of the city’s historic Mississippi River waterfront aboard the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen.
CFSEI Has a New Home with SFIA
The CFSEI Expo has been an annual event since 2011 and is now one of the industry’s most important forums for CFS technology transfer and networking.
Founded in 1993, the CFSEI is the industry’s leading professional design association. On May 1, 2023, CFSEI moved from the American Iron and Steel Institute to its new home with the Steel Framing Industry Association (SFIA), where the CFSEI’s leadership and goals will continue to be supported in its role as the industry’s key touchpoint for CFS design.
CFSEI Expo 2024: May 20-22 in Tucson
The 2024 CFSEI Expo will be held May 20-22, 2024, at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Details to come soon.
Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute
The Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute comprises hundreds of structural engineers and other design professionals who are finding a better way to produce safe and efficient designs for commercial and residential structures with cold-formed steel.
CFSEI members work together to develop and evolve industry standards and design methods, produce and issue technical bulletins, and provide seminars and online training to improve the knowledge and skills base of engineers and design professionals. For more information, visit www.cfsei.org
