VertiClip® SLD w/3″ Slots

This slide angle clip for drywall is used to connect metal studs at the head condition (top of wall) to the deck or primary structure while allowing for a total vertical deflection of up to 3” (2” up & 1″ down). TSN’s patented Step Bushing Technology provides an anti-friction and anti-seizure connection between the clip and the stud web surface.

Features
  • 3″ deflection
  • Load-rated positive mechanical attachment at each stud
  • Patented Step Bushing Technology provides friction-free motion for smooth vertical deflection
  • Eliminates loose friction-held assemblies, heavy deep-leg track, & top row of wall bridging/strapping
  • Load-rated #8 screws provided for vertical deflection connection to stud web
  • Manufactured with certified, 50ksi, 33mil, G90 cold-formed steel

* VertiClip SLD is a component in VertiTrack® VTD, TSN’s pre-assembled deflection track.

VertiClip® SLD Applications

VertiClip SLD w/3″ slots is used for interior or light exterior head of wall connections that require larger deflection allowances.  The attachment of VertiClip SLD w/3″ slots to the primary structure may be made with screws or PAFs and is dependent upon the base material (steel or concrete) and the design configuration.

Load Table Notes:

  • VertiClip SLD s3lg, b2d is designed to support horizontal loads, and should not be used in axial load-bearing walls.
  • Allowable loads have not been increased for wind, seismic, or other factors.
  • Meets IBC criteria for light steel framing.  Factor of Safety calculated according to ICC-ES AC261 and Chapter K of AISI S100.
  • Tests performed with with bushings centered in the 3″ slots.
  • The standard bushing placement is 2″ from the top of the slot an allows the structure to settle 1/2″ prior to typical service.
  • Total vertical deflection of up to 3″ (1-1/2″ up and 1-1/2″ down).
  • #8 screws are provided with each step bushing for attachment to the stud web.
  • Fasten within 3/4″ of the angle heel (centerline of the 1-1/2″ leg) to minimize eccentric load transfer.
  • For LRFD strengths contact TSN technical services.
