Medical Tower II at the The Children’s Hospital of The Kings Daughters is a 14-story, 366,700-square-foot pediatric psychiatric hospital and outpatient center scheduled to open in January 2022 in Norfolk, Virginia. Medical Tower II will include pediatric behavioral and specialty clinics, a partial hospitalization program, 60 inpatient beds, music and art therapy, a multi-sensory room and an indoor gym. CHKD is a leading children’s hospital in Southeastern Virginia and the only free-standing children’s hospital in the state.
A.D. Stowe was responsible for installing all of the interior light steel framing and drywall on the project. This meant framing out over 4,000 door & window openings, as well as providing strong wall backing to secure thousands of cabinets and heavy medical equipment. The Steel Network worked with A.D. Stowe to manufacture custom light steel framing products, precut custom cut dimensions, marked and numbered parts.
The product customization and coordination provided by TSN helped make A.D. Stowe’s project a success by allowing them to install the light steel framing twice as fast in the field.

There are over 4,000 door frames and openings in this building in the interior alone. We gave dimensions to TSN, They precut everything for us, shipped it to us, marked and numbered. When it came to the job, it was already numbered. We just had to take it to the door frame that it belonged to and it just made things go twice as fast in the field.
