Chester, Virginia
The Springhill Suites by Marriott, is a seven-story, 122-room hotel located at 12301 Redwater Creek Road in Chester, VA. Agent Walls was responsible for the framing the loadbearing structure with cold-formed steel studs and joists. For this hotel, Agent Walls wanted to panelize both the wall panels and the floor panels to optimize the construction schedule and lighten their onsite build crew. The Steel Network first worked with Agent walls to optimize and reduce stud and joist thicknesses in the framing of the walls and floors using TSN’s SigmaStud and PrimeJoist. This lighter gauge material not only provided cost savings but made the job easier and faster for installers. In addition to the optimization of the studs and joists, TSN worked with Agent Walls to develop a custom connector used to assist them install the steel joist floor panels.
“We got over that constructability issue of panelizing the floor system with the help of TSN. This custom slide/ridge clip was a godsend, and now there are thousands of these things helping to support the floor system at SpringHill suites.”
Working tired is not productive from a financial standpoint but its also not productive from a social standpoint. No body wants to be tired and being to lift 16- or 18-gauge SigmaStud’s as opposed to a 10- or 12-gauge standard stud is night and day.
